নৌযান শ্রমিকদের বেতন ৬০ শতাংশ বৃদ্ধির প্রতিবাদে ৭ দিনের আলটিমেটাম দিয়েছে খুলনা বিভাগীয় অভ্যন্তরীণ নৌপরিবহন মালিক গ্রুপ। এই বৃদ্ধি অযৌক্তিক দাবি করে বুধবার (১ মার্চ) সাড়ে ৮টায় মালিক গ্রুপের সভাকক্ষে সংবাদ সম্মেলন করে নৌযান মালিকরা।

সংবাদ সম্মেলনে লিখিত বক্তব্য পাঠ করেন খুলনা বিভাগীয় অভ্যন্তরীণ নৌপরিবহন মালিক গ্রুপের মহাসচিব ওয়াহিদুজ্জামান খান পল্টু।
সংবাদ সম্মেলনে লিখিত বক্তব্যে তিনি বলেন, গত ২০ ফেব্রুয়ারি শ্রম ও কর্মসংস্থান মন্ত্রণালয়ের উপসচিব মনোয়ারা বেগম স্বাক্ষরিত চিঠির মাধ্যমে ২২ ফেব্রুয়ারি শ্রম ভবনে শ্রম ও কর্মসংস্থান মন্ত্রণালয়ের সচিব মো. এহসানে এলাহীর সভাপতিত্বে এক সভা আহ্বান করা হয়। সভায় সরকার পক্ষ নৌপরিবহন সেক্টরের বিভিন্ন শ্রেণির নৌযানের মালিকের সক্ষমতা এবং বর্তমান বিশ্বব্যাপী মন্দা অবস্থা এবং পরিবহনযোগ্য পণ্যের অভাবের বিষয়টি বিবেচনা না করে ঢালাও একতরফাভাবে ২০১৬ সালে প্রকাশিত গেজেটে উল্লেখিত মূল বেতনের ওপর ৬০ শতাংশ বৃদ্ধি করে নৌযান শ্রমিকদের বেতন স্কেল ঘোষণা করেন।

'খুলনা বিভাগীয় অভ্যন্তরীণ নৌপরিবহন মালিক গ্রুপ, বাংলাদেশ কার্গো ভেসেল ওনার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন, বাংলাদেশ অভ্যন্তরীণ নৌচলাচল সংস্থা, কোস্টাল শিপ ওনার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব বাংলাদেশ, পেট্রোলিয়াম ট্যাংকার্স ওনার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন, বাংলাদেশ অয়েল ট্যাংকার ওনার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশনসমূহের পক্ষে অযৌক্তিক প্রস্তাবে সম্মত হয়ে নৌযান পরিচালনা করা সম্ভব নয়।'
সংশ্লিষ্ট সবার সমন্বয়ে একটি সভা আহ্বান করে আলোচনার মাধ্যমে ২২ ফেব্রুয়ারির ঘোষিত প্রস্তাব প্রত্যাহার করে নতুনভাবে সিদ্ধান্ত ঘোষণার আহ্বান জানানো হয়।
৬০ শতাংশ বহাল রাখলে ১০ মার্চ রাত ১২টা থেকে নৌযান বন্ধ রাখার হুঁশিয়ারিও দেন নৌযান মালিকরা।
